About the Job
Hiring Salary Range: $74,000-$85,000 DOQ Job Responsibilities: Administration:
- Oversee two teams comprising 11 full-time professional staff and 30 student workers over two units, the Testing Center and the Access Assistance Unit.
- Provide operational oversight for the DRC's Testing Center and Access Assistance unit functions.
- Partner with University community members to develop, implement and evaluate procedures for the University to ensure legal compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and other relevant legislation.
- Attend weekly Leadership Team Meetings and step in to attend additional meetings when the Associate Director, Access Programs is unavailable
- Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate services, programs and activities in coordination with other Disability Resource Center units and University partners.
- Develop training and professional development plans and opportunities for professional staff and student workers.
- Provide consultation and expertise to faculty/instructors and the office of community standards on topics related to academic and scholastic integrity
- Develop and track metrics to understand trends that will inform resource needs, best practices, and budgetary recommendations
- Develop, coordinate, manage and evaluate Testing and Access Assistance services and procedures.
- Search for and assess sustainable practices (including technology) in Testing and Access Assistance that meet the needs of disabled students, faculty, and staff.
- Maintain operations within the Testing & Access Assistance unit and Access Programs broadly
- Supervise and develop Testing & Access Assistance unit and administrative staff.
- Consult with Disability Resource Center staff, primarily access consultants in UReturn and Student Access, to provide reasonable accommodations utilizing the interactive process.
- Manage resources, documents, and equipment related to Testing and Access Assistance, including hardware (computers, flash drives, cameras, CCTV, etc.), software, and space.
- Advise and recommend hardware and software purchases to support access, pursue the purchase and acquisition of said hardware/software.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, retention and initial and ongoing training for professional staff and student workers.
- Recommend, develop and implement Testing and Access Assistant guidelines, practices, and procedures that safeguard the legal rights and responsibilities of students, staff, and the University.
Outreach and Institutional Support:
- Participate in University committees, task forces and networks upon the recommendation and/or approval of the Associate Director.
- Engage with the larger University community around Diversity Inclusion Justice and Equity (DIJE), Accessibility and other Office of Equity and Diversity Initiatives.
- Assist University units in ensuring physical, programmatic, informational, policy, and attitudinal access by:
- Learning about other units and helping them see the importance of inclusive design and access in their contexts.
- Providing consultation and training on disability issues to the University community.
- Fostering development of post-secondary access at the University by initiating, facilitating, and maintaining relationships and partnerships with campus stakeholders.
Professional Activities:
- Participate in policy and procedural decisions relating to Testing and Access Assistance.
- Join and serve relevant professional organizations, such as: AHEAD, MNAHEAD, NCTA, Big 10 Accommodated Testing Group, etc.
- Create and maintain relationships with peer institutions by presenting at and attending conferences, programs and webinars and networking with professionals.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree with at least 6 years of full-time professional work experience.
- Experience working with direct service accommodations, preferably in a post-secondary setting.
- Experience developing strategies for managing a high volume of complex and confidential documents.
- One year of supervisory and service management experience.
- Excellent organization and administration skills.
- Strong collaborative leadership and supervision skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with principles of Universal Design and Inclusive Design.
- Experience working in a testing center or student-facing services.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines regarding access for people with disabilities, principles of universal design and interactional (or social) models.
- Ability to anticipate and prioritize multiple responsibilities, program needs, fluctuating service demands, as well as analyzing data to discern strategies for meeting them.
- Ability to set a calm tone while working in a faced-paced environment and model collaborative and compassionate leadership.
- Willingness to think outside the box and challenge the status quo
- A detail-oriented approach to work
- Experience with, and an ongoing commitment to: working effectively with and across diverse communities: including people of color, underrepresented groups, and new immigrant populations; American Indians; people with both visible and invisible disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; and first-generation students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
