Your opportunity:

As a Metal Forming Principal Manufacturing Engineer for the Greenheck Group you will provide leadership and expert technical support to optimize part costs, quality, and customer service through the conception, development, and implementation of new or improved manufacturing processes, especially those related to metal spin forming. You will also be responsible for mentoring, training, indirect supervision of other team members, or may have direct reports. This position is recognized as subject matter expert corporate-wide.

What you'll be doing:

  • Coach, mentor and provide subject matter expertise for training initiatives related to advanced manufacturing processes- metal spinning, stamping, and drawing.
  • Develop spin processes for new and existing parts, new spinning procedures, and support documentation to ensure quality, good customer service, and cost control.
    • Major drivers include productivity, material utilization, and improved throughput.
  • Plan, specify, and justify multi-year strategic capital expenditures, which may include Board of Director level projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for business unit engineers and production team members as it relates to manufacturing processes and equipment, including new technology and processes. May work with equipment vendors, internal resources and Machine Development Center to find solutions and long-term strategies.
  • Leadership in recognizing, recommending and validating changes to improve manufacturability.
  • Mentor others and/or implement changes with product design engineering.
  • Lead and support safety, 5S, and Lean initiatives.
  • Will provide mentoring and/or training in area of expertise with indirect supervision of other team members or may have direct reports.
  • Manage corporate-wide and business unit projects; involving individuals from various departments to ensure integration between manufacturing, sales, finance, marketing and product engineering.
  • Support production and manufacturing to optimize quality, productivity, on-time delivery, and operational efficiencies resulting in improved customer satisfaction.

What you should have:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • 4 Year / bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • Strong AutoCAD and Project Management skills required.
  • General fluency in SAP is preferred.
  • Strong Lean experience.
  • Possess advanced experience in plant layout.
  • Must be a hands-on person with the ability to use hand and power tools as needed.
  • Must be willing to operate spinning machine as part up of start-up, training operators and trouble shooting.
  • Familiarity with metal blanking, forming and G-code is desired.
  • Familiarity with metal spinning and flow theory is required.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team.

  • Position will be located in Schofield, WI.
  • In order to support regional and international facilities, 25% travel will be required for this role
  • Expected to complete internal Lean Leader and Lean Champion certification.
