Description

AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

This internship will allow the qualified candidate to participate in a learning program designed around training into a potential full-time opportunity of a role similar to the one in the description listed below. DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Associated Milk Producers, Inc, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Execute required tests on finished product according to SOPs and customer requirements.
  4. Execute required test on incoming ingredients according to QMS (Quality Monitoring Scheme).
  5. Responsible for daily/weekly plating, reading, calibration, sample collection, Internal Control Plan, sample preparations, etc.
  6. Support investigations on improvement projects (e.g., holds, consumer complaints), helps to identify root causes, and helps to identify corrective actions and monitors for effectiveness.
  7. Support training for operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as state in QMS.
  8. Communicate out-of-specification product results to supervisor.
  9. Calibrate lab equipment such as pH meter and scales, etc. according to SOP's.
  10. Conduct daily routine sample analyses using lab techniques and other instrumentation following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  11. Organize laboratory records and files. Ensures compliance to procedures and work instructions.
  12. Ensures correct recording of laboratory and quality records in compliance with SOP's including storage and retrieval of records.
  13. Support laboratory activities to ensure that a high quality of products, services, housekeeping, and hygiene standards are maintained and improved in laboratory and other analytical areas.
  14. Supports laboratory compliance (calibration, equipment testing, etc.) to SQF and AMPI requirements.
  15. Employee shall follow and carry out company policy on all required GMP, quality and food safety requirements and escalate quality or food safety findings or incidents.
  16. Support execution of GMP's throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures.
  17. Support improvement of GMP's throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures.
  18. Support improvement initiatives (e.g., complaints, holds) for facility.
  19. Other duties as assigned.
