Leads the completion of the most complex drawings to suit engineering changes and initiates engineering changes. Guides the creation of the most complex design layouts and detail drawings of complex products. Guides the compilation of materials and specification sheets. Leads dimensions/specification determination necessary on the most complex drawings for effective manufacturing. Leads the designs of cost-effective, most complex products and modifications or improvements on existing products with adherence to applicable industry and customer standards/specifications. Leads the most complex investigations related to product design and maintenance. Guides review of the most complex engineering drawings and supporting documents for adherence to drafting standards. Designs planning test programs and leads analyzes and evaluation of prototypes. May perform engineering calculations. Leads the selection of materials and evaluates competitive products.
1. Experience with developing integrated mechanical systems, comprised of OEM components, fabricated components, and wiring harnesses; equipment testing, and verification activities are desirable. 2. Ability to independently plan work and balance multiple priorities to meet design goals and customer requirements. 3. Ability to help solve moderately complex electromechanical engineering design problems given verbal or written specifications. 4. Ability to effectively utilize the functionality of a three-dimensional CAD design tool, such as, Siemens PLM NX, Solid Works, or Creo Parametric (Pro-E) in order to produce engineering design solutions, which meet customer requirements. Work within multiple component Assemblies by applying MCAD best practices procedures such as Constraints / Mating Conditions for the positioning of components 5. Has demonstrated experience in developing design concepts for manufacturing test 6. Ability to apply the knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and industry standards, such as, ASME Y14.5 drafting practices, and GD&T methodology in order to produce fully-dimensioned engineering drawings which meet manufacturing requirements. 7. Ability to select the appropriate manufacturing process for various designs in order to produce cost-effective commercial equipment. 8. Ability to effectively communicate with manufacturing engineers, mechanical designers, shop-floor personnel, and fabrication suppliers. 9. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 10. Ability to maintain Design History Part File Tracking information to support ongoing documentation requirements. 11. Education and experience: minimum of five years of experience working in a research and develop environment - preferably, a medical device industry. BS Mechanical engineering, or AAS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience is acceptable. |
