Under the supervision of the Student Success Liaison Supervisor in collaboration with the Academic Dean for the Manufacturing, Construction and Trades Pathway, the Student Success Liaison supports the Pathway Office to welcome and assist new and current students. Assesses student needs to recommend College support staff or services; assists students with registration activities and assists faculty, staff and public with Pathway Program functions. Work is cross-functional, interpersonal, and diverse in nature. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives.


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains a welcoming, inviting, and student-centered Pathway Office environment by displaying a positive and friendly attitude; provides excellent service and individualized student support.
  • Provides information that requires knowledge of general Student Services and Academic processes and procedures; exercises discretion in determining pertinent information.
  • Effectively explains and provides Pathway-specific assistance in the enrollment process including admissions, financial aid, counseling, advising, orientation, and registration.
  • Aids the student with registration activities to promote program progression (e.g., completing add/change program forms, updating catalog years, completing course waivers, course overload requests, supporting submission of Credit for Prior Learning request forms).
  • Assisting students with registration needs.
  • Identifies and refers students to available MATC support services and community-based organizations; offers solutions to current students that promotes student retention.
  • Contacts District departments/offices to research answers for students that avoids call transfers or sending students to other offices.
  • Collaborates with the Pathway team to ensure delivery of accurate information of MATC services.
  • Collaborates with departments, services, and stakeholders to ensure delivery of accurate information of MATC services within the pathway
  • Collects or provides information; maintains records; interprets data requiring reference to a various sources; prepares and maintains complex statistical reports including designing formats for tables, charts and graphs; conducts needed special studies to report recommendations.
  • Works as an effective cross-functional team member.
  • Assists with Pathway and Pathway Program Student Orientations and other program functions.
  • Ensures delivery of excellent customer service, including face-to-face, telephone, electronic communications and print transactions; provides job training and assistance to colleagues and subordinates as needed and appropriate.
  • Provides office coverage, sometimes alone, for the Pathway Office hours. Connects to others virtually as needed but is expected to problem-solve on the spot for the students in the office.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Business, Communication or a related field AND
  • At least two (2) years of experience in customer service and/or call center

Preferred Experience: in addition to the minimums requirements listed above

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • More than two (2) years of experience preferably in a higher-education setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of District policies and procedures; ability to interpret and communicate admissions, financial aid, registration processes and COSMO software application.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of personal computers, spreadsheets, database documents, electronic mail, and other established software to perform functions such as creating documents and spreadsheets, correcting and proofing, storing and filing text, recalling and retrieving text, printing; and using special features as communications; merging, reformatting, major editing, and revisions.
  • Knowledge of Guided Pathways programs.
  • Ability to utilize excellent customer service and interpersonal, phone, and written communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MATC staff, faculty, students, agency stakeholders; business community partners and the public.

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start immediately.

Job Details: The role is part-time, 19 hours max per week, and work is year round

  • Days/Times: Monday - Thursday 2 - 6pm; Friday 1:30 - 4:30 (REQUIRED HOURS)

  • Locations: May service the Oak Creek AND Milwaukee Downtown Campus locations but may have to support other locations as needed.

Salary: Hourly rate is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2024/2025 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
