Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, online courses, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation. **
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program/department area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to promote educational opportunities at MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities.
- Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program/department evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-
Educational requirements:
- Must have an Associate degree in Automotive Servicing from an accredited college or a closely related degree, or an associate degree plan (a plan to obtain an associate degree in a related field within 5 years of hire date. 50% of the degree should be completed within the first three years and the remaining 50% completed by the end of the fifth year).
- Related field include, but are not limited to, Diesel.
Occupational experience:
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent (14,000 hours) experience in a related field.
- In addition one of the following must be met:
- At least one (1) year of work experience must have occurred within the last five (5) years
- -OR-
- Two (2) years of teaching Diesel/Automotive Servicing course work at the post-secondary level within the last five years
{One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time of four (4) semesters part-time}
Industry or vendor certification:
- Must hold current ASE Master Technician Certification in areas A1-A8 & G1 along with federal section 609 MVAC certification or master tech certification from a manufacturer dealership with plans to complete ASE certification in A1-A8 & G1 and 609 MVAC certification within 6 months of hire date.
- Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record sufficient to be insured by MATC.
- Must successfully complete online defensive driving course within first year of hire.

- Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
- Emerging Technologies - Experience with social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Manufacturing, Construction, and Transportation Pathway and is available to start in the fall semester.
Hours/Location: This position is up to a .5 LTE. Hours, location, and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need. Based out of the Oak Creek Campus, 6665 S Howell Ave, Oak Creek, WI 53154.
Daytime availability is needed.
Salary: Hourly rate of $70 per hour is equivalent to the base rate of $40/hour multiplied by the number of hours per course times 1.75 hours which covers office hours and prep time for instructional activities. Activities conducted outside of teaching (non-instructional), require approval and will be paid at the base hourly rate of $40.
