Senior Process Safety Engineer

Job Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Lead the HSE team for Baytown and Deer Park facilities and provide support to other operations as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal (OSHA/EPA/PSM) standards.
  • Ensure functioning and continuous improvement of PSM systems, including but not limited to, Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance, Emergency Action Plans, Process Hazard Analysis, Operating Procedures, Process Safety Information, Operator & Maintenance Training, and general safety procedures.
  • Lead and support the development and improvement of PSM-related standards, policies, procedures, tools, and guidance.
  • Lead, and/or participate in, HSE Compliance Audits, including a regular review of Process Safety Information (i.e., P&IDs, Technical Standards, etc.).
  • Lead, and/or participate in, incident investigations to ensure a thorough root cause analysis and support/drive implementation of recommended corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead, and/or participate in, process safety evaluations in all phases of new developments, projects, and approval of any new chemicals.
  • Provide direct support to manufacturing sites on operational issues, environmental systems, and best practices for implementation.
  • Assist in coordination of PHA activities, to include pre-HazOp preparation, HazOp team activities, and PHA reports.
  • Understand and demonstrate a servant leadership mindset.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
  • 5+ years' experience in PSM within the petrochemical industry.
  • Experience working in manufacturing/operations functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Stable work history with good references from past employers.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Chemical Engineering or appropriate years of experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a management or leadership.
  • Proficient skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ambitious, energetic, self-motivated, self-managed, team player, and results oriented.


Required Qualifications:



  • 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Stable work history with good references from past employers
  • Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
  • PSC is a veteran-friendly company. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
