Reimagine What's Possible

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician for our West Coast Green Hydrogen Plant and associated equipment in Casa Grande, AZ. The plant consists of Alkaline Water Electrolysis (AWE) and 10 ton per day liquid hydrogen plant supplying green liquid hydrogen for various customers throughout the region. The facility will use two large industrial scale electrolyzers to produce gaseous hydrogen, which will be converted to liquid hydrogen using Air Products' proprietary technology. The site will also include an ultra-high purity water production unit and a terminal for distributing product to customer locations throughout California and other markets.

This energetic, self-starter will be responsible for maintaining pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, filters, strainers, piping, relief valves, gear drives and reciprocating and centrifugal compressors and turbines. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining / troubleshooting all equipment and facility maintenance. You will provide necessary technical and hands on support to continuously improve plant rotating and stationary equipment integrity, reliability, cost, and on-stream performance. This facility is a 24/7 operations and the incumbent must be willing to work overtime as required and willing to take 24-hour on call responsibilities on a rotating basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance and participate in plant safety programs
  • Perform and/or supervise routine and breakdown inspection, repair, troubleshooting, modification, installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, cryogenic pumps, gear drives, vessels, heat exchangers, cryogenic expanders
  • Develop work scopes for equipment repair, overhaul and provide technical reports
  • Provide the vital technical leadership to continuously improve machinery condition and reliability
  • Develop worn component refurbishment procedures and follow through on repairs and spare parts replacements based on Machinery Engineering recommendations
  • Update and/or create maintenance manual/procedures for certain equipment
  • Engage actively in a team environment, bring a positive attitude, maintain personal accountability, and provide mentoring and coaching for team member development
  • Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns
  • Expectation to become an Air Products crane lift supervisor, to include rigging and flagging qualifications
  • Drive company vehicles safely

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Commitment to safety and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Minimum 5-years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment
  • Ability to learn the following: alignments, read drawings, and using a multi-meters
  • Knowledge of various rotating equipment and ability to learn new equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment lubrication practices & procedures
  • Demonstrate the practice of safe handling of hand tools and hand power tools typically and commonly used in maintenance tasks
  • Practice and demonstrate working knowledge of safe rigging and lifting procedures
  • Understand the properties, behaviors, and hazards of the equipment
  • Experience in maintenance, start-up, and commissioning of industrial rotating machinery and plant equipment
  • Experience in a petrochemical, manufacturing, or military environment
  • Basic Microsoft Office computer skills
  • Most be able to learn how to operate facility forklifts, manlift, and overhead crane
  • SAP knowledge is preferred
  • Prior military experience desirable

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work in an industrial environment which includes working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to wear air purifying respiratory protection
  • Willing to work overtime and respond to on-call support
  • This is a safety sensitive position and must be able to wear appropriate PPE and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required
  • 2-years minimum experience in a manufacturing/production, processing, or chemical/ petrochemical environment, or similar military assignments
