The Senior EH&S Advisor is responsible for supporting the EHS Global Functional Organization in the development and implementation of EHS management systems for Air Product's global capital project portfolio. The primary EHS management system focus will be construction and commissioning activities but will span all project execution phases from opportunity development through commissioning and start-up. This position will interface and provide mentorship and influence to multiple project fields including but not limited to project and construction management, procurement, staff at all levels in the organization with a heavy emphasis on mentorship and mentor to environmental, health and safety professionals and specialists responsible for the delivery of health, safety, and environmental processes and policies at Project locations globally.

Required Skills / Abilities:
  • Supporting the global EHS function in the development and continuous improvement of the existing EHS project execution management system.
  • Lead and/or improv global EHS initiatives, creation of standardized programs, procedures, and expectations.
  • Promote and implement Air Product's Project execution EHS management systems and tools.
  • As requested, assist global and regional Project EH&S Managers to develop a robust safety program at Project locations.
  • Provides assurance against EHS management system requirements including but not limited to EHS planning, site mobilization readiness, project EHS execution plans, contractor safety management, risk assessment and work permitting systems, and emergency response.
  • Collect, maintain and trend EHS data as the need arises to identify focused EHS improvement opportunities for projects or regions.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Give to planning and strategy development of global EHS initiatives, assist and coordinate regional implementation.
  • Steward contractor safety management with key construction and commissioning contract partners.
  • Ensure the General Contractors follow and enforce to their own safety programs as well as those of Air Products.
  • When required and requested, take part in contractor and sub-contractor kick off meetings.
  • Ensuring contractor safety programs and safe work practices are reviewed and supervised prior to contractor mobilization.
  • Provide temporary relief or project site presence as requested for key project planning or execution activities.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • Engineering/Safety degree; extensive knowledge of oil, gas, and/or energy infrastructure construction.
  • Internationally recognized EHS certifications.
  • 15+ years working experience in construction or safety management, 10+ years working experience executing large Projects; previous experience in a regional or global organization.
  • Proven experience in the process of construction and commissioning safety.
  • Strong technical knowledge in EHS safety requirements for construction work such as fall protection, control of work, scaffolding, confined space entry, fire prevention, cranes and lifting operations, excavations etc.
  • Expertise in risk and hazard analysis processes applied during project execution.
  • Ability to conduct audits and knowledge of international EHS standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to travel (up to 50%) and adjust work schedules to international time zones.
