The Senior Environmental Advisor, Project Delivery supports the EHS Global Functional Organization in ensuring environmental compliance and best-in-industry environmental performance. The position will coordinate with Americas and Corporate Environmental groups to ensure environmental work processes and strategies are established and implemented on capital projects. Work processes will include identifying, and mitigating/eliminating environmental risks, compliance with environmental permit/regulatory/corporate requirements, defining/driving timelines for certain environmental activities, including utilization of internal/external resources, to avoid project schedule impacts and the development and implementation of construction environmental management plans. The project execution scope will span opportunity development through commissioning and start-up. This position will, with support from Americas and Corporate Environmental groups, interface, provides guidance and influence multiple project fields including project and construction management. There will be an emphasis on supporting development and facilitating integration/implementation of various environmental/permitting work processes into applicable systems and processes applied by the EHS Global Functional Organization to drive effectiveness and utilization aimed at achieving total environmental compliance during project execution.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Supporting the Global EHS function in the development and continuous improvement of the existing EHS project execution management system.
  • Fostering a culture of environmental awareness and compliance throughout the organization and with contractors, through detailed programs/training on environmental awareness and requirements.
  • Develop, promote and implement Air Product's Project execution EHS management systems and tools to facilitate/support environmental compliance on capital projects.
  • Champion, in coordination with America's and Corporate EHS, the collection, refinement, and organization-wide dissemination of project execution environmental standard processes to ensure standardized and improved EHS performance across all projects.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • The position will work with the Global Director EHS, Project Delivery and be based out of Houston, TX. A majority of time will be spent supporting project execution in the Americas, with additional global support as the need arises. Position will facilitate and implement compliance and assurance related systems, work processes and initiatives associated with various environmental considerations throughout capital projects execution including, but not limited to, environmental strategy development, project planning, permitting activities and construction environmental compliance. The position will also establish and supervise environmental performance, metrics and collaboratively develop process and continuous improvement plans in support of a broader EHS management system.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science or equivalent; extensive knowledge of oil, gas, and/or energy infrastructure construction.
  • Internationally recognized EHS certifications are desirable.
  • ~10 years working experience in the application of environmental regulations and standard processes on major capital project execution scenarios, experience implementing large projects; previous experience in a regional or global organization.
  • Proven understanding of a wide variety of environmental regulations and issues related to construction and/or major capital project execution.
  • Leadership and effective communication capabilities with various capital project subject areas including project and construction management, engineering, business development.
  • Shown technical knowledge in environmental regulatory permitting frameworks and compliance strategies for areas such as air quality/impacts, water discharges, waste management, and habitat/wildlife preservation management,
  • Experience in applying environmental risk analysis and management processes during project execution.
  • Ability to conduct audits and knowledge of international environmental standards and best practices.
  • Ability to travel (up to 50%) and adjust work schedules to international time zones.
