Performs radiation physics services for pediatric patients in the Department of Radiation Oncology in accordance with the standards of practice. Ensures the delivery of accurate radiation doses to pediatric patients. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs assigned radiation physics duties to ensure the delivery of accurate radiation doses to pediatric patients by coordinating and interacting with appropriate personnel.
  • Participates in development and implementation of policies and procedures in radiation physics and radiation safety to facilitate accurate and safe delivery of radiation doses in accordance with acceptable protocols.
  • Provides and supports learning needs through educational activities that promote continuous improvement and compliance with patient care standards.
  • Participates in budget preparation and equipment specifications and purchases by interacting with the director to ensure adequate and uninterrupted services to patients.
  • Organizes and documents all radiation physics records in coordination with appropriate staff and physicians to ensure accurate and timely performance of procedures.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement/control activities. Develops, implements, maintains and reports department quality improvement plan in accordance with department, hospital and The Joint Commission standards. Participates in interdepartmental collaborative quality improvement activities. Assists the director of radiation physics in maintaining quality control program for Radiation Therapy. Maintains the standards of JCAHO.
  • Assists with the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the organization.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • MS or PhD in Physical Sciences required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Four (4) years of experience with MS in Physics.
  • Completion of Part II of the American Board of Radiology Exam preferred

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $138,320 - $262,080 per year for the role of Physicist II.
