Since its inception in 1960, St. Jude has been moved by the pursuit of audacious goals such as eradicating pediatric cancer, defining its genomic landscape, and tracking the health of over 4,000 childhood cancer survivors. From being a trailblazer in pursuing treatment of HIV in children and youth since the 1980s to leading COVID-19 vaccine trials amid a pandemic, we are committed to furthering clinical care and translational research that address potentially catastrophic infectious diseases that impact children and youth. Today, we continue to forge brave new paths in this work, and among other things, it's our aim to do no less than bring an end the HIV epidemic.

Here at St. Jude in the Infectious Diseases Clinical Program, we know that we are stronger together, and we value the power wrought of leveraging community partnerships in serving one of our primary clientele: the children and youth at risk of contracting or living with HIV. We lead a coalition of 25+ community partners that share a common goal of optimizing HIV prevention and treatment, and as our Manager of Community Outreach, you'll be charged with continuing the upward-trajectory of this program, providing a safe space for innovation and candor and leading think-tanks focused on eliminating the hurdles faced by our community in its common pursuits, whether it's the continued goal of ending the HIV epidemic or tackling new challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic with vaccine development.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead and grow a team of community outreach and engagement specialists, serving as a mentor and sounding board as they navigate the complexities of engaging and retaining children and youth in clinical care and research related including related to HIV Prevention and Treatment. Our work requires a keen knowledge of our clientele and the community, and your expertise will help shape the team's continued growth by pioneering new partnerships and promotional avenues. You will be the ambassador of the program sharing information about the research we lead and why is it important with our community and listening to the input and advice our community provides.

The Program Manager of Community Outreach in Infectious Diseases will oversee the community outreach program including, but not limited to linkage-to-care coordination, protocol recruitment, fostering partnerships for community engagement, End HIV initiatives, assist in budgeting, strategic planning and meeting facilitation. They will represent the department in meetings and events in the community. They will work closely with the Principal Investigators and Study Coordinators of research studies that seek community-based recruitment to inform study pre-implementation and implementation planning based on bi-directional communications with community stakeholders and leadstudy recruitment activities.Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the organization. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with a growth mindset, have community engagement, public health, HIV and management experience, and strong communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of a program including defining objectives, approaches, goals, governance mechanisms, resource deployment, periodic reviews, contingency planning and periodic reporting and communication.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams internally and externally to achieve defined outcomes aligned with departmental strategies.

  • Drive internal stakeholder management and communications, management of external vendors, and strong partnership with stakeholders inside and outside the institution.

  • Track program and/or project success.

  • Provide oversight and management of program budgets through planning, control and tracking of expenditures.

  • Provide more complex analysis of data to create reports for senior leadership.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Experience: 4+ years experience in program management and delivery.

  • Experience designing and managing programs with focus on customer needs.

  • Experience in program budget tracking, reporting and risk management.

  • Proven experience engaging with senior leaders to facilitate decision making.

  • Experience providing guidance and mentorship within program management team.

  • Some experience driving continuous program improvement projects.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Program Manager for Community Outreach in Infectious Diseases.
