Program Manager, Health Economics

We are seeking a detail-oriented Program Manager to assist in the design, management, implementation, and oversight of projects and initiatives within and for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St. Jude Global (SJG).

This pivotal role serves as a section/project team lead for a rapidly growing epidemiology and health economics unit focused on applying decision science and cost-effectiveness analysis methods to inform decision-making at the individual and population levels in different disease areas, including childhood malignancies and other catastrophic diseases.

A unique aspect of this program is the opportunity to integrate real-world data collection into applied research. This is a unique opportunity to learn new content in many different disciplines, as well as to develop and conduct new research projects that will be implemented around the world and published in high-impact scientific journals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Guide strategic planning efforts for program development and integration with GPM and SJCRH strategic initiatives, as well as help the team prioritize projects in the pipeline based on urgency and readiness.

  • Design and lead literature reviews to map out and summarize already published materials about different health economics and finance topics.

  • Conduct descriptive and basic statistical data analyses to support project and early manuscript development.

  • Coordinate visualization development with web development teams.

  • Process large amounts of observed and processed data for economic analyses and parameter estimation for decision-models.

  • Ensure the integrity of datasets used in analyses through development of essential data cleaning, checks, and data back-ups.

  • Design and support implementation of primary data collection tools among global partners.

  • Apply economic insights in interpreting results.

  • Draft and edit materials for publication and presentations.

  • Present research at national, regional and international conferences.

  • Organize and facilitate collaborative meetings within St. Jude and with global partners.

  • Spearhead complex global health quality improvement programs across Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC).

  • Manage communication between stakeholders in LMIC networks of hospitals and training centers.

  • Provide advice and guidance for implementing quality improvement projects in diverse geographical and resource settings.

  • Apply complex science of implementation concepts to program initiatives.

  • Design training materials tailored to LMICs needs and oversee their adaptation for training international networks of essential healthcare workers.

  • Cultivate work relationships to promote program sustainability and scalability across LMICs acting as a liaison with St. Jude Global and collaborators.

  • Develop systems and procedures for monitoring and evaluating processes, project outcomes, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Review auditing reports for collaborations and initiatives to support strategic decision-making, ensuring the maintenance of relevant data and project records for all activities in alignment with overarching goals and institutional policies.

  • Create data visualization tools for stakeholders, including cost tracking, budget allocations, and auditing reports, to facilitate informed decision-making.

  • Coordinate education, capacity building, patient-centered care, and research efforts in LMICs, managing projects involving research, quality improvement, and education/training.

  • Utilize healthcare and LMIC experience to serve as a liaison between St. Jude and collaborators, coordinating partner sites

  • Lead centralized efforts to evaluate grant opportunities and coordinate grant applications.

  • Oversee award budgets and processes for the programs and projects within the region.

  • Work with communications personnel to develop effective program communications tools.

  • Mentor less experienced team members.

  • Act as a liaison with other members of the department and collaborators to facilitate cross-departmental research activities and ensure coordination and success of departmental, regional, and/or global initiatives and departmental requirements.

  • Travel to and engage with global collaborators (travel estimate 15% time).

Minimum Education and/or Training

Bachelor's degree in related field is required

Master's degree is preferred

Minimum Experience

  • Four + years of experience and expertise in complex project management

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.

  • R, STATA, SAS and TreeAge preferred

  • Previous participation in scientific publications preferred

  • Fluency in a second language preferred

  • Experience working in international settings required

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies required

  • Supervisory and/or team coordination experience required

  • Clinical and/or healthcare background is preferred

  • Clinical research and/or implementation science experience is a plus

  • Experience designing and managing programs with focus on customer needs

  • Experience in program budget tracking, reporting and risk management

  • Proven experience engaging with senior leaders to facilitate decision making

  • Experience providing guidance and mentorship within program management team

  • Some experience driving continuous program improvement projects

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Program Manager, Health Economics.
