The Instructional Learning Designer assists in designing, building, delivering, and managing learning educational projects and content that are aligned with the educational goals and objectives of the St Jude Graduate School. Communicates, plans, and strategizes with other members of the education team, faculty, and staff to help produce high-quality, innovative educational materials that support the mission and projects of the department and St. Jude. Coordinates with Information Services staff to administrate the content and learning management systems in use by the department and to maximize their effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as liaison to faculty, staff and/or students for content management and learning management systems.
  • Designs and develops innovative educational packages based on knowledge of the latest learning methodologies. Identifies and secures appropriate educational materials and resources.
  • Performs basic project management tasks for all courses. Participates in team strategic planning to ensure alignment and attainment of education team goals and objectives, as well as to enhance communication between the education team and faculty/students and/or trainees.
  • Develops and conducts assessments to evaluate learning objectives and validate training effectiveness.
  • Writes and edits content as necessary. Reviews content for accuracy and quality. Produces content using multimedia development tools, software, and hardware.
  • Facilitates and supports continuous quality improvement initiatives; helps develop and revise education team policies and procedures.
  • May maintain the software, hardware, and media equipment inventory for the education team.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through attendance of seminars, conferences, workshops or classes to keep abreast of software, hardware and education trends.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Learning/Instructional Design, Education/Instructional Technology, Adult Education, or related field is required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Three (3) years' experience that includes web-based learning programs, administration of learning and content management systems, multimedia development, instructional design, web design, and video recording, production and editing.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer programming, software packages, and operations, including multimedia authoring tools (Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite, Articulate 360, Storyline, Camtasia, Captivate); Familiarity with Learning Management software (Canvas); web-authoring tools (HTML, JavaScript); audio and video recording and editing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a team, organize and prioritize tasks, and exercise independent judgment.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $65,520 - $114,400 per year for the role of Instructional Designer- St Jude Graduate School.
