Performs various basic laboratory research tasks determined by the field and scope of the particular research project/study. Performs tasks related to the research project independently but within specific guidelines, which are subject to review by the supervisor and/or other research staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute various sequencing-based functional genomic assays, including but not limited to ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and Hi-C.
  • Collaborate with multiple labs within the department to generate high-quality, consistent high-throughput data.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies in functional genomics, adopting and implementing new methodologies in collaboration with other researchers.
  • Provide expertise and technical support to ensure experimental success and data integrity.
  • Assist in the interpretation and analysis of genomic data to drive research projects forward.
  • Performs laboratory experiments independently using established techniques/protocols.
  • Sets up protocols, trouble shoots experiments using new or modified laboratory techniques.
  • Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
  • Prepares and reports results/ data leading to posters, presentations, or publications
  • May provide guidance to entry-level employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals of the department and institution
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of relevant, post-degree work experience is required.
  • No experience is required with a Master's degree.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in various sequencing-based functional genomic assays, including but not limited to ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and Hi-C.
  • An understanding of emerging technologies in functional genomics, adopting and implementing new methodologies in collaboration with other researchers.
  • Background in high-throughput data generation and analysis

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $60,320 - $105,040 per year for the role of Senior Researcher - Department of Hematology - John Crispino Lab and Departmental Omics Core.
