Job Summary
The Director is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to enhance the educational experience and involvement of our diverse student body through the development of social, leadership, cultural, and holistic wellness programs. This position is responsible for coordinating the delivery of culturally based programming and leadership development, advising, and supporting the success of our student organizations whose mission it is to create a stronger sense of inclusion, belonging, and retention from new student orientation through graduation. The successful incumbent will possess strong leadership and organizational abilities and function as a project manager on select initiatives as directed by senior leadership.

Essential Functions
Student Development and Co-Curricular Programming

  • Ensures superior delivery, assessment, and continuing improvement of co-curricular equity and inclusion programs and services
  • Engages the student community in diversity and inclusion initiatives and best practices and develops and implements diversity and multicultural programs and activities at the intersections of multiple identities
  • Serves as a collaborator and culturally competent resource for student led programs, training, and student leadership development on intercultural, multicultural, and diversity appreciation and understanding
  • Serves as mentor to culturally and racially based student organization(s)
  • Engages and supports student participation in campus-wide committees and organizations
  • Contributes skills and leadership in support of the University's goals for retention of at-risk populations
  • Works seamlessly with all Student Affairs units, the Learning Center, the Weigand Center for Professional Excellence, advisors to student organizations, faculty, and other campus constituents to support student success, retention, and cultural competency


Project and Administrative Responsibilities

  • Contributes to data collection and assessment of student needs, progress, and success
  • Collaborates on Student Affairs and university committees, and represents the Office of Equity and Inclusion with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages budgets administered by the Office of Equity and Inclusion
  • Supervises logistics for special events, trainings, and community engagement activities
  • Assists with preparing and presenting materials for Board of Trustee meetings
  • Proactively manage the workflow, communication, reporting, and scheduling for assigned projects

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area of counseling, social work, or education with two years of experience working in a higher education setting
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of university students
  • Demonstrated understanding of student success and engagement
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence, student development, and continued cultivation of a campus community free from bias, racism, and all forms of discrimination
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related area
  • Knowledge of student development theory

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Occasional evening and weekend obligations.
