  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL
  • Full Time, 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Day shift

General Summary:
The Surgical Technologist First Assist (STFA) plays a critical role in surgical procedures by providing skilled assistance to surgeons, nurses, and the surgical team. This position involves advanced knowledge of surgical procedures, patient care, and aseptic techniques to ensure safe and efficient surgeries.

What you will need:

  • 2 Years Surgical Technologist with experience in first assisting required.
  • Surgical Technologist with experience in first assisting required.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required
  • CSFA required
  • Associates Degree Health Administration preferred

What you will do:

  • Providing skilled assistance to surgeons during surgical procedures, including but not limited to retracting, suturing, and hemostasis.
  • Maintaining a sterile field and anticipate the needs of the surgeon throughout the procedure.
  • Preparing and organizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies required for each procedure.
  • Ensuring that all instruments are properly sterilized and in excellent working condition.
  • Assisting in patient preparation, positioning, and draping to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Monitoring patients' vital signs and provide appropriate care during the surgical procedure.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, including instrument counts, specimens, and patient information.
  • Documenting any unexpected events or complications during surgery for review and analysis.
  • Collaborating effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicating clearly and efficiently to ensure a coordinated surgical process.
