Marcum LLP is currently seeking a Tax Transformation Senior Business Analyst to join our Tax Transformation group within the internal Marcum IT department. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Tax Professionals, IT, and Operations to help them (a) identify and solve process inefficiencies, (b) where relevant, help us to drive standardization, (c) leverage technology platforms and automation to improve efficiency, and (d) manage data to provide business intelligence to internal teams and external clients.The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience in a tax role within a medium or large tax/accounting environment, with at least 2 years in a business analysis or tax technology position. This role is responsible for a unique combination of technical expertise, creativity, and design. To be considered, candidates must have extensive experience understanding and documenting process workflows, user stories and business requirements as well as proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), products such as Visio, and tax software products. Requirements:
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a tax role within a medium or large tax/accounting environment, with at least 2 years in a true IT business analysis or tax technology position
  • Experience documenting process workflows, use cases, and user stories
  • Advanced knowledge of tax applications and tax workflows
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into application and functional requirements
  • Exceptional professional level communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), products such as Visio, and Adobe
  • Advanced data extraction and transformation skills using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Innovative and transformative mindset
  • Prior experience using and the capability to learn and evaluate tax software applications
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Computer Science, or equivalent
Preferred Requirements:
  • Active CPA designation, or willingness to reactivate certification
  • Experience in a public accounting firm tax department
  • Knowledge of APIs, ETL, BOT/AI/RPA tools
Responsibilities:
  • Assess, understand, and document current state processes
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement via automation and process reengineering.
  • Gather and document stakeholder requirements
  • Prepare user stories and process diagrams for development
  • Understand the use of current tax tools and best practices
  • Work with Project Managers or self-manage projects beginning to end, depending on size/scope
  • Partner with Business Intelligence colleagues to develop dashboards with KPIs and other key data
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders across each Marcum LLP practice group
  • Track project success via metric tracking; Prepare status reporting presentations
  • Prepare and provide initial training and product documentation for users
  • Learn and understand the Marcum tax processes and tech stack
  • Evaluate and advise on new technologies, vendors and products and stay updated with industry trends
Travel Requirements:
  • Less than 10% travel
