Assurance Senior Manager

Hartford, CT

Marcum LLP is seeking an experienced Assurance Senior Manager, preferably with experience in the healthcare and not-for-profit industries to join our growing and well-established national firm in our Hartford office. The position require a high-energy, experienced assurance professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Job Description

  • Responsible for managing assurance engagements with minimum oversight by Partner.
  • Be an active role-model and leader for staff to emulate
  • Coordinate various planning phases of engagements and ensure work is on schedule
  • Generate budgets and maintain profitable realization rates
  • Review and evaluation work papers, and determine compliance with professional standards and firm policy
  • Review reports and financial statements
  • Review with the engagement partner significant findings that raise questions involving auditing standards and firm policy
  • Manage risk and ensure quality control procedures are being executed
  • Be actively involved in practice development efforts of the firm.
  • Effective manage employee and client expectations
  • Provide on the job training to subordinates
  • Assist partners with preparation of engagement budgets, client billing and staff performance reviews, also to assume billing and collection responsibilities under direction of partner.
  • Ability to represent the Firm by presenting on areas of expertise at third party events.
  • Review staff work product and ensure firm processes and quality control procedures are being executed.
  • Must have outstanding work ethic, willing to roll up sleeves work attitude.
  • Attend professional development seminars and maintain annual CPE requirements.
  • Ability to spend significant time at client sites. Extensive travel within the New England location.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
  • BBA/BS in Accounting
  • CPA certification required
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Ability to attract and develop profitable, sustainable client relationship
  • All candidates must have their own personal vehicle for travel requirements.
  • This is not a remote position. Candidates must be able to work in the office a minimum of three days per week.
