Brown and Caldwell (BC) are currently seeking a self-motivated Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician to join our regional Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) team. The candidate should be locally based in Mobile, Alabama. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects completing both field and reporting tasks. The selected candidate will work at field locations, site facilities, and remotely as required; occasional visits to regional BC offices may be needed and routine travel is expected. Some overnight stays and weekend availability may be required. Primary duties of this position will include functioning as part of sampling team throughout the region and performing O&M activities at facility locations. Training may be provided as needed.

Detailed Description:



  • Performs data collection and documentation related to field activities, including soil and groundwater, sampling of surface water and vapor/soil gas sampling.
  • Communicate real-time field observations to senior staff as needed.
  • Manage tasks and assignments to meet critical deadlines and budgets.
  • Coordinate field efforts; adhere to and assist with the development of work plans and health and safety plans.
  • Facility system maintenance and light repairs.
  • Facility system monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Operate field sampling and industrial process equipment.


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate degree of science or technical training in an industrial trade preferred.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to acquire.
  • Experience working in an industrial setting.
  • General mechanical skills
  • SCADA system monitoring experience.
  • Be self-motivated, highly organized, results-oriented, reliable, and able to work well with a wide variety of coworkers and subcontractors.
  • Capable of working in a team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities
  • Highly organized, reliable, and able to work well with others.
  • Ability to work for short periods of time in extreme temperatures including heat and cold.
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel toed boots (or other approved toe protection), safety glasses, etc.
  • Ability to operate a BC pickup truck or rental vehicle to commute to jobsites and to access work areas on site.
  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.
  • Ability to climb stairs (2-3 flights) or ladders (up to 24-foot typically) to access structures for visual inspection.
  • Wastewater treatment or collection plant operations experience.
  • Chemical and waste handling experience.


      Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

      Salary: $31.00- $42.60 per hour.
