Brown and Caldwell is looking for a Large Pipeline National Leader to help develop and advance the company's strategic goals. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the unique trends in your area of expertise and using that knowledge to create technical differentiation from that of our competitors. You will also serve as an important conduit between National experts and local staff in each Business Units.

This role will include oversight, assistance and leadership during the pursuit, execution, and construction phases. Brown and Caldwell has a long history of being leaders in large conveyance and a strategy to expand our core team to meet the needs of our expanding needs or our clients. The focus of this role is to leverage our current expertise, expand our staff, and support growth in the conveyance market.

The ideal candidate must be a strong leader, with the ability to be the center of a growing nucleus of focused and highly functioning team of experts. The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude; will be flexible and self-motivated, creative, quality-oriented with attention to detail and be accountable for this specialty. The candidate must have extensive experience in leading the technical aspects of large diameter pipelines.

Detailed Description:

Practice Leadership



  • Be a visible leader within the industry to represent BC's brand related to your practice.
  • Assist in the development of technical practice vision and strategy (led by National Practice Leader) including market-specific trends, clients, needs, and opportunities for the area.
  • Work directly with Area Managers, Local Leaders, Client Service Managers/Teams and practice members to identify emerging trends and opportunities in the Practice and geographic area.
  • Develop connectivity and collaboration with Area Practice Leads and other affiliated staff across the company
  • Collaborate with National Practice and Innovation Leaders to support connection of technical differentiators, innovative solutions and R&D for clients and advance goals set for your area or region by business and practice leadership.
  • Engage as a visible leader in the Practice Portal connecting technical staff with resources, solutions, standards, and best practices.


Project Delivery Quality and Efficiency



  • Ensure quality delivery of relevant technical project elements on strategic regional projects
  • Coordinate with Practice and Specialty Leaders to ensure application of standards during project delivery. Support in directing appropriate resources to developing standards.


Client Development and Sales



  • Collaborate with Practice and BU Leaders to develop technical strategy and participate in annual business planning.
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions on priority pursuits associated with the technical practice area.
  • Act as sales leader for strategic pursuits.
  • Understand our competition in terms of strategic direction of their approach to the regional practice area, and their technical focus, staff, strengths, and weaknesses. Equip business units with winning technical strategies.
  • Identify strategies for expanding existing areas of expertise to new areas.
  • Develop new service lines to expand market share


Talent Development



  • Mentor and identify opportunities for technical staff to grow experience and advance in the practice. Support the ability for regional talent to develop and advance within the practice specialties.
  • Identify practice area staffing needs and recruits. Drive recruiting efforts for technical talent within the region. Support enterprise recruiting as needed.
  • Assist in the develop of trainings, presentations to advance staff knowledge.


BC Brand and Industry Leadership



  • Lead representation of the BC brand throughout the nation including strategic messaging and team member visibility.
  • Champion and attend strategic national conferences in alignment with technical and regional strategy by leveraging technical staff to maximize client exposure to BC technical leaders, staff and solutions.


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • B.S. or M.S. in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or a related field is required.
  • Professional registration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in the environmental services or water utility and/or consulting industry is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate business acumen to guide decisions on assignment of personal and technical approaches to support business unit growth.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in guiding technical strategy for a large portfolio of projects and alignment or key technical differentiators and staff to those projects.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally (verbal and written) for technical and non-technical audiences.


Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $161,000 - $221,000

Location B: $177,000- $243,000

Location C: $193,000 - 265,000
