As a member of our growing national One Water team, your experience with integrated planning will be valued as you contribute your experience and education to perform potable water, sewer and recycled water system hydraulic modeling, develop potential system improvements, and evaluate water resources.

Detailed Description:

In this role, you will work closely with our technical experts, project teams, and client service managers to advance our technical services and support business development on a wide variety of water system projects both in California and across the U.S. for primarily public sector clients. You are encouraged to engage and participate in workgroups that align with your interests, including our national One Water Team.

Typical projects could involve:



  • Creating traditional as well as integrated master plans for municipal water utilities
  • Employing a variety of hydraulic models to assess existing problem areas, predict future issues, and develop solutions for planning and design projects
  • Preparing Feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and conceptual design documents for water, sewer, and recycled water infrastructure improvement projects
  • Assisting with water supply studies and alternatives analysis
  • Sharing knowledge and providing technical direction to junior modeling staff and other team members in the delivery of projects to clients.
  • Participating in development of client relationships and pursuit strategies.

Job Expectations:



  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations and conceptual design documents
  • Perform modeling and planning of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water distribution, supply and transmission systems
  • Develop sewer modeling and planning, and water resource skills and experience
  • Manipulation and analysis of data using spreadsheets, tools, and GIS
  • Periodic travel to project and client sites for data collection and meetings
  • Develop project management skills and habits.
  • Learn BC's plan-to-win process and lead or assist in technical portions of proposal preparation by developing work approach and strategy, schedule, level of effort; writing project descriptions for modeling and planning project pursuits; and participating in proposal interviews.
  • Prepare and make presentations for professional meetings with clients and technical teams
  • Review the modeling and planning work of others
  • Participate in client development activities
  • Writing letters and otherwise communicating with clients and the public
  • Coordinate, manage, and execute assignments to achieve client goals within scope, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Participate in leadership and other training opportunities
  • Participate in and contribute to BC's Master Planning and Modeling (MPM) practice
  • Take initiative to expand company resources and tools to improve quality and efficiency
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Mentor junior technical staff


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering; Master's or PhD degree preferred
  • PE license
  • Advanced knowledge of water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure hydraulics, operation, and master planning
  • Understanding of demand and flow projections and ability to perform forecasting with consideration to upcoming mandates
  • Integrated climate change impacts into planning approaches
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • 5 to 10 years of directly-related experience in hydraulic modeling and planning, with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare effective written documents
  • Organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience with sewer collection infrastructure modeling and planning is desired
  • Proficiency with advanced modeling, transient analyses, data management, and related software packages a plus (e.g., InfoWater, InfoWorks, InfoSurge, WaterGEMS, WaterHAMMER, EPANET, EPA-SWMM, ArcGIS Pro, Excel, Power BI)



Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location B:

Salary $117,000 - $160,000
