Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

Aireon is seeking a Senior Proposal Manager to join our expanding Sales Operations team to participate in sales support activities and proposal development as part of our customer acquisition process. The Senior Proposal Manager should have skills in strategic planning, process optimization, data analysis, forecasting, CRM, and tools management with exceptional communication.

In this role, the Senior Proposal Manager will play a pivotal role in aligning sales strategies with business objectives. As an experienced professional, you can take on various elements of our customer acquisition process and business development from end-to-end. (from bid strategy to proposal management). You will partner cross-functionally with the Sales, Deal Management, Product Management, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations teams leading the communication to key customers. Provide sales analysis across various use cases, and ensure our products exceed the customers' expectations. All with the objective to help our customers in the aviation and aerospace industries harness the power of data-driven decision-making.

What You'll Do

    Analyze solicitation documents, create proposal outlines, compliance matrices, transmittal letters, presentations, and other proposal documents as needed.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Proposal and Business Development Knowledge Management library and assets.
  • Lead and manage the overall proposal development process for assigned opportunities.
  • Produce professional, compliant proposals for both commercial and government markets, in response to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs, as well as unsolicited proposals.
  • Work with engineering and technical staff to solicit and interpret major ideas and technical results.
  • Write and edit elements of sales materials, presentations, RFI responses, internal artifacts, and proposals as needed.
  • Ensure consistent voice and inclusion of appropriate win themes, benefits, and discriminators.


Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Required Qualifications

  • Experienced professional with a minimum of 5 years' experience in aerospace, preferably in business development, engineering, or program management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills with the ability to establish credibility and relationships from the manager to senior executive levels in customer organizations.
  • Maintain a forward-leaning posture that is always willing to wear extra hats as needed to help the team submit well-conceived, well-articulated, compelling, and winning bids.
  • Pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring clarity, grammar, and proper use of technical terminology.
  • Ensure bid, teaming, pricing, and proposal strategies are developed, approved, and executed against.
  • Provide training as necessary to team members on the proposal process, review process, and/or writing process and best practices.
  • Execute other tactical Sales Operations activities and special projects as assigned.
  • Extensive knowledge of sales processes and workflows.
  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing sales data.
  • Familiar with CRMs, data visualization tools and other sales technologies. (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)

  • Strong aptitude for evaluating, learning, and producing efficient outputs with new and existing software systems.

1-3-6-12 Month Plan

In the first month we'll expect you to...

  • Get onboarded and train with your manager
  • Get acclimated into the role
  • Understand the Deal Management team, and different stakeholders
  • Identify and learn the existing sales tools, software suite for proposal, pricing, and quote process

At 3 months we'll expect you to...

  • Manage standard proposals for deals across various vertical teams
  • Work accurately and efficiently with the Deal Management team and Sales Operations
  • Prepare initial strategic planning for proposal and bid processes.
  • Prepare initial strategic planning on software suite for proposal, pricing, and quote processes.

At 6 months we'll expect you to...

  • Manage customized and complex proposals for deals across various vertical teams.
  • Lead the implementation of new standards across proposal libraries.
  • Win buy-in with Deal Management relating to strategic planning for proposal and bid processes.
  • Win buy-in with Deal Management relating to software suite for proposal, pricing, and quote processes.

At 12 months we'll expect you to...

  • Execute approved process for proposals and bids
  • Lead Sales teams and customers on Deal Management and proposal process

About the Team

  • This position is within Aireon's Sales Operations team, which is a small but agile team within our Sales and Customer Affairs department.
  • The Sales Operations team operates out of Aireon's headquarters in McLean, VA and rely on a flexible, hybrid work model. The Sales and Customer Affairs department is geographically diverse and grouped into verticals.
  • Teams stay connected through recurring team meetings, one-on-one meetings, company all-hands meetings, and corporate events both virtual and in-person.
