About the Unit 8 South/8 Central: Pulmonary 34 bed unit which specializes in the care of patients of all ages with pulmonary issues. Many of our patients have compromised lung function since birth secondary to prematurity and other co-morbidities often including neurological and developmental challenges. We also have a specialized population of children who are on multiple consulting services and require intensive care coordination. Typically these children have a longer length of stay and/or may be patients on our unit intermittently throughout their lives. Our third cohort of patients includes general pediatric patients with medical problems. Family centered care and excellent teamwork are at the core of our practice, and we welcome nurses of all experience levels who are committed to those core values. We are highly regarded for our strong track record in assimilating new graduate nurses into this fast-paced environment where acuity is high and strong time management and critical thinking skills are required for success. Our leadership team includes seven experienced nurse leaders whose primary mission is to ensure that our work environment is one where excellence in practice is both valued and achieved. We are inclusive and proud of our ability to develop and maintain a unit culture which is positive and supportive to all. Please consider coming to for a visit and see for yourself!
