Iowa Lions Eye Bank is seeking highly motivated, independent recovery technicians. The role of the recovery technician is to perform the recovery of human ocular tissue for the purposes of both transplantation and for research/educational purposes. Technicians work independently, traveling to hospitals, funeral homes, and medical examiners offices throughout the Iowa City/Coralville area to complete the recovery procedure. A small team of recovery personnel rotate on-call shifts to provide 24 hour daily coverage throughout the year. Days are divided into 3 eight hour shifts (0000-0800, 0800-1600, and 1600-0000). Required qualifications: a valid driver's license/insurance/reliable transportation, a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum 2 year commitment, good manual dexterity, and the ability to lift 50+ pounds without assistance. Desired qualifications: experience working in an on-call capacity, familiar with aseptic technique, flexible availability, education or experience in the fields of science and/or health care. Hourly pay rate: $5.00/hr to be on-call, $16.00/hr during training and will increase to $20/hr after successfully completing training for actual worked hours. Schedule type: ongoing, part time, flexible hours, nights/weekends/holidays. A background check is required
