Horizon BCBSNJ employees must live in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware Job Summary: Performs leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks required to develop the enterprise solution architecture and ensure that it is leveraged. Responsible for working with the business and establishing solution portfolios aligned to the business objectives and establishing core solution architecture assets to be utilized by individual project teams. The Enterprise Solutions Architect will focus on multiple projects and guide the design and implementation by partnering with software engineers, application development and technology specialists. Responsible for overall governance and oversight and compliance of solutions aligned with Horizon-s Enterprise Architecture.
- Define key solution portfolios and ensure they are managed - either by heading that activity directly or by establishing and then supporting asset-centric portfolio management disciplines - Develop road maps describing the evolution of all enterprise solution portfolios from current state to future state - Work closely with the enterprise program management office (EPMO) or project office to ensure alignment of plans (including migration plans and road maps) with what is being delivered (projects). - Ensure that project management or solution delivery life cycle efforts and project architects specifically leverage all aspects of enterprise architecture (EA) - separately by EA viewpoint (for example, business, information and technology) and via guidance at the ESA level across those viewpoints. - Analyze enterprise business context (trends and business strategy), as well as change requirements in other EA viewpoints, to derive the ESA change requirements to guide solution decisions for the enterprise. - Define principles to guide solution decisions for the enterprise. - Define models, including solution patterns, to guide solution decisions for the enterprise. - Assist with governance activities associated with ensuring ESA and, thus, EA compliance. - Consult with application or infrastructure development projects to harmonize systems or infrastructure with the ESA, and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs. - Ensure that all individual solution architecture design and analysis work (particularly as specific solutions are created or upgraded in projects by project architects or solution architects) is documented in a structured fashion matching the EA framework and is stored in a common place. - Understand and advocate the principles of business and IT strategies, as well as of EA development and service delivery. Be prepared to "sell" the EA process (overall, not just for ESA), its outcome and ongoing results, and to lead the communication, marketing or educational activities needed to ensure ESA success and use. - Coordinate with enterprise business, information and technology architects. - The implementation role will include software architecture, development as well as technical project management and ultimate responsibility for the technical deliverables of a project. - Lead development teams through the complete solution. - Communicate in detail how a solution will integrate into the larger technical problem space for large, complex projects - Define technical solution requirements. - Provide guidance to the Division and project team with respect to technical feasibility, complexity, and level of effort required to deliver a custom solution. - Assist senior and managing project consultants in incorporating IT development project plan into overall project plan. - Ensure that the solution is designed, developed and deployed in accordance with the agreed upon development work plan. - Create and deliver timely reports of development progress to the project manager. Assist in the development and delivery of pre and post implementation with internal customer. - Engage with internal customer and project team to understand requirements and present solutions. - Prototype the feasibility of proposed technology solutions. Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. - 7+ years experience with business information systems integration or custom business application design and development in a professional technology consulting, corporate MIS or software development environment.
- Deep expertise in 3 or more of the following: - Programming J2EE: Complete from back end to front end - Programming .NET - WebSphere, EJB, JSP - Enterprise integration technologies - Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server Database, Analysis, Integration and Reporting Services - ASP .NET and client web development (XML, XSL, ASP .NET, AJAX, HTML, Java Script)
