RK&K, one of the nation's top consulting firms, is seeking dedicated and strong Bridge Inspectors for our wide range of Construction projects in Richmond, VA. Prospective candidates will have at least three years inspection experience including roadway and structure construction methods, materials, standards and specifications. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of CEI professionals who are passionate about this field of work.

Essential Functions



  • Provide construction management support, including inspection and monitoring of roadway and bridge structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Materials sampling and testing
  • Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
  • Fully engage in solving complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Recordkeeping and reporting as required
  • Ability to work independently with limited daily oversight



Required Skills and Experience



  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in construction engineering and inspection and testing for large infrastructure projects
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, including complex plans, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Perform a variety of calculations, computations and documentation associated with the project inspection and material testing
  • Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
  • Fully engage in solving complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
  • Acceptable driving record
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop and iPad
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of working independently on construction projects
  • Record-keeping and reporting as required



Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Municipal agency experience
  • Material Certifications are a plus (Asphalt, Concrete, Pavement Marking, Soils, Intermediate Traffic Control Certified, etc.)
  • Site Manager experience
