Job Title: Geoscience Intern (Summer 2025)

Summary: Diamondback is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas. Diamondback's activities are primarily focused on the horizontal exploitation of multiple intervals within the Wolfcamp, Spraberry, Clearfork, Bone Spring, and Cline formations.

Internship Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You will work with an integrated team of geoscientists and engineers to tackle pressing issues that directly impact company-level decisions on portfolio management.
  • Several options for projects are available, including the following:
    • Upside assessment potential on company leased assets to determine if economic inventory can be added through appraisal drilling. This will include full-cycle assessment, including target identification, justification geologically, and justification economically.
    • Basin-wide technical assessment (stratigraphic, structure, geochemical, geomechanical, and sedimentological) that will elevate the Diamondback Geoscience Team's knowledge to leverage directly to commercial drilling projects.
  • At project completion, the intern will demonstrate his procedure and results in a culminating presentation in front of Diamondback upper management (CEO, COO, EVP, SVP, and VP).
  • Throughout the internship, there will be opportunities for on-site field visits to learn about field operations (active drilling rig and active completions spread).
  • Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to participate in Diamondback philanthropic endeavors that help the immediate community of Midland-Odessa.
  • Finally, the intern will be able to learn from and work with some of the finest O&G professionals in the industry on a daily basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a BS or higher in Geosciences
  • Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • GPA of 3.20 or higher
  • Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience is desirable
