The Lifeguard Supervisor is primarily responsible for the management of Colgate's natatorium while actively participating in and contributing to continuous quality improvement.
The duties of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Staff Recruitment and Training: Recruiting, hiring, and training lifeguards to ensure they are prepared with the necessary skills and certifications, such as
CPR, first aid, and lifeguarding techniques, to effectively monitor the indoor pool area.
Shift Scheduling and Deployment: Creating and managing lifeguard schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Assigning lifeguards to specific pool zones based on swimmer density and risk assessment.
Supervision and Monitoring: Directly supervising lifeguards during their shifts, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure they adhere to safety protocols and maintain vigilance in monitoring pool activities.
Emergency Response Coordination: Overseeing emergency response procedures and coordinating with lifeguards during water rescues, medical emergencies, or other incidents. Acting as a point of contact for emergency services and providing support as needed.
Equipment Maintenance and Inventory: Ensuring that all lifeguard equipment, such as rescue tubes, first aid kits, and communication devices, are regularly inspected, maintained, and stocked. Coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary to ensure readiness for emergencies.
Safety Inspections and Risk Assessment: Conducting regular inspections of the indoor pool area to identify potential hazards, such as slippery surfaces, malfunctioning equipment, or inadequate signage. Implementing measures to mitigate risks and enhance safety for patrons and staff.
Policy Enforcement and Patron Management: Enforcing facility rules and regulations related to pool safety, such as swimming restrictions, diving policies, and behavior guidelines. Addressing any violations or misconduct among patrons promptly and appropriately.
Customer Service and Communication: Providing excellent customer service to pool patrons, addressing inquiries or concerns related to pool operations, safety procedures, or facility amenities. Communicating effectively with staff, patrons, and management to maintain a positive and welcoming environment.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of incidents and accidents as well as staff training and certifications. Generating reports for management and regulatory agencies as required to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Continual Improvement and Training: Participating in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current on lifeguarding techniques, safety protocols, and industry best practices. Providing training and guidance to lifeguards to enhance their skills and knowledge. |
