Job Summary

Intercollegiate Athletics - Weibring Golf Course is seeking extra help employees to work as Greensworkers and Pro Shop staff. Extra help is able to work up to 28 hours per week total.

Benefits include time away from work for eligible employees and the option to participate in the University's 403(b) Plan.


Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$14.00 per hour


Required Qualifications

Valid Driver License (to operate the golf carts)


Work Hours

Varies. Nights and weekends frequently required


Functional Expectations

Functional Expectations for Extra Help Pro-Shop position:
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

Functional Expectations for Extra Help Greens Worker position:
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Must be able to perform hard physical labor such as digging, shoveling, raking, and hand mowing.
2. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
3. Must be able to ride or drive motorized mowing equipment and other golf course maintenance vehicles for long periods of time.
4. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Special Instructions for Applicants

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
