Work type: Off Campus Location: Other, Normal, Illinois Division Name: Academic Affairs Job Summary The Extra Help Autism Coaching Specialist will deliver professional learning, workshops, and consultation to educators and staff serving students with autism in Southern Illinois schools. These services will include workshops, the creation of resources and visual supports, and side-by-side coaching of classroom staff. The primary duty of this position is to provide in person technical assistance to identified school teams to increase capacity and improve services for students with ASD within the school setting. This candidate will coach staff in the implementation of evidence-based practices for individuals with ASD using a gradual-release model. Additional Information The Autism Professional Learning and Universal Supports (A+) Project at Illinois State University assists the Illinois State Board of Education in addressing the significant behavior needs of children and youth with Autism Spectrum (ASD) and related behavior and communication disorders. Through a comprehensive approach encompassing professional learning, technical assistance, coaching, and collaboration, A+ has worked closely with school teams to enhance their capacity to effectively support students with ASD. The A+ project provides professional learning and coaching to educators using high-impact, evidence-based practices, and strategies to support individuals with autism and related behavior and communication challenges. Salary Rate / Pay Rate $40.00-$60.00 per hour, based upon skills and experience Required Qualifications

Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
