Job Summary

In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions, the English Department maintains a pool of qualified persons interested in non-tenure-track teaching positions. Applications are accepted continuously for non-tenure track positions and reviewed as vacancies become available. There may not be an actual vacancy at the time you apply.

Required Qualifications

- Masters or doctoral degree in English
- Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level
- State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.

1. Cover letter that describes your teaching interests and qualifications for teaching ISU Writing Program and/or General Education or Specialty Area English courses.

3. Teaching Statement that explicitly addresses: (1) how you teach writing through a socio-cultural and/or cultural-historical approach to undergraduate writing and writing research, if you are interested in teaching in ISU's Writing Program; and/or (2) your approach to teaching other general education or specialty area courses in the ISU English Department, if you are interested in teaching those courses.
4. Sample Course Plan and/or Syllabus: (1) a full course plan for an undergraduate writing course if you are applying to teach in the ISU Writing Program; your course plan should include a detailed schedule, a clear explanation of what genres students research and produce for each major writing project, how students document their learning (uptake), how projects engage course learning outcomes, and your approach to assessment and grading; and/or (2) a course syllabus for general education and/or specialty area courses, if you are interested in teaching those courses.
