SUMMARY

The Reconciliation Analyst is responsible for performing general ledger and bank-controlled deposit account reconciliations, reporting any out of balance conditions immediately, and working with appropriate bank personnel to resolve issues. A successful candidate will be capable of understanding a broad range of bank processes, preparing and properly documenting reconciliations in various formats, and communicating effectively with individuals at all levels throughout the organization. Attention to detail and a general understanding of accounting concepts are required to successfully perform the duties of this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform complex operational account reconciliations using automated reconciliation systems.
  • Perform manual reconciliations related to receivables, payables, various suspense and in-process accounts, due-from accounts, and bank-controlled deposit accounts using the Oracle reconciliation system.
  • Balance subsidiary ledger systems for deposits, loans, & investments to the associated general ledger control accounts.
  • Research, track, and resolve all out of balance conditions and work with appropriate bank personnel to resolve differences.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years accounting experience. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in accounting, finance, or similar discipline from four-year College or University is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS

Keyboarding and 10-key skills are essential. Computer experience with Internet, MS Word, and MS Excel. Good reasoning ability. Understanding of basic accounting concepts. Capable of working independently and in a group setting. Ability to communicate effectively by phone and email.

Professional, self-driven/motivated, pleasant individual.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a clear and concise manner. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Demonstrate common sense and logic in day-to-day activities. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
