Laboratory Technologist II

ChampionX is seeking a Laboratory Technologist II to support the Chemical Technologies segment located in Sugar Land, Texas. This role will be responsible for equipment maintenance, equipment projects and ad hoc support for building and designing equipment.

What You Will Do:

  • Asses, troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment, following safety standards needed to work with chemicals
  • Responsible for a variety of routine and non-routine laboratory operations (in a laboratory or plant).
  • Support laboratory testing.
  • Provide insight on re-examination of borderline results
  • Evaluate old processes and developing process improvement opportunities
  • Write experimental reports, summaries, protocols and appropriate documentation in lab notebook.
  • Perform work as specified by project needs in a timely manner.
  • Uses a variety of laboratory equipment requiring a high degree of acquired skills.
  • Requires ability to set up and operate special equipment following manufacturer's instructions with limited supervision.
  • May assume full responsibility for minor projects.
  • Performs routine and safety program checks and preventive maintenance on instruments.
  • Technical assessments and support of current laboratory benchmark to determine field to laboratory simulation for new chemistry.
  • Keep track of equipment maintenance schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven mechanical capabilities.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrates ability to work as a team member.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate and interact with others in a way that builds effective working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in coreflood instrumentation
  • Knowledge of flow through porous media
  • Experience working with Swagelok valves and fittings
