Job Description

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include assisting the Recreation Manager in the daily administration, operational functions, and programming of intramurals sports, leisure activities, and recreation on campus. This full-time position will have a variety of day-to-day responsibilities designed to ensure operational performance and provide quality service to students participating in recreational activities on-campus. The successful candidate will primarily design, develop, and implement a diversified and comprehensive intramural and wellness program that meets the needs and interests of the student population on campus. This person must be knowledgeable of a variety of sports and leisure activities as well as be proficient in maintaining statistical data including participation. He or she will regularly collaborate and work with students.

Additional duties include:

  • Develop intramural sports, leisure activities, and recreation for students from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs and interests.
  • Provide oversite and leadership as a site manager for intramural competitions and leisure activity events.
  • Collaborate and partner with campus organizations on health and wellness initiatives for students.
  • Provide training, supervise, and evaluate student employees, game-day supervisors, and officials.
  • Maintain participation rates and other informative data that will assist in evaluating the success of programming.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of program equipment and operational resources.
  • Coordinate practice times, competition sites and equipment maintenance when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety of participants by monitoring facilities and reporting concerns to the Recreation Manager.
  • Serve as a resource for risk management.
  • Responsible for documenting and submitting incident forms when applicable.
  • Understand and implement rules of an array of sports and leisure activities.
  • Complete program evaluations and surveys to address the needs and interests of the student body and sport offerings.
  • Approve the time & labor payroll (daily/weekly) for intramural employees.
  • Oversee social media and marketing for Miner Rec.
  • Recommend intramural sports, leisure activities, equipment, facility maintenance enhancements, and budgetary needs to the Recreation Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with intercollegiate athletics and competitive club sports to schedule athletic facilities.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned.
Shift

This is an hourly position that qualifies for overtime and requires some weekend and evening work.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Recreation or a related area is preferred.
  • One year of experience in the area of student programming for intramurals and/or rec sports or student programming development and administration is preferred.
  • Experience in officiating and training officials for sports such as basketball, flag football, softball, soccer, or volleyball is helpful as well as experience in league and tournament scheduling using scheduling software such as IMleagues is preferred.
  • CPR & AED Certification
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $18.61-$20.00 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
