Job Description

AMERICANS SYSTEMS is on the hunt for a dynamic and experienced IT Project Manager I with a TOP SECRET clearance to support our US Government client's innovative IT network and web applications at China Lake, CA. As a Project Manager I, you will:

A Day in the Life of a Project Manager I:



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, translating their needs into actionable feature requirements.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures, standards, and guidelines for provisioning bare metal and virtual systems.
  • Manage projects related to web-based applications, using PMBOK, AGILE, and SCRUM methodologies.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resources, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and QA teams to ensure project requirements are understood and met.
  • Conduct research, installation, testing, and evaluation of hardware and software within security boundaries.
  • Implement and manage change processes across all layers of the stack.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through regular updates and strategic advisory.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, making necessary adjustments to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Understand and implement cybersecurity measures and protocols.
  • Understand and leverage CI devices utilizing hardware, network, and application virtualization.
  • Coordinate with QA teams to track and resolve bugs and issues.
  • Create comprehensive project documentation, including feature requirements, user stories, and wireframes.
  • Prepare and present detailed project reports and dashboards to senior management.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a Top Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Math, or other technical discipline OR

    • High school diploma + 3 years of management experience


  • 8 years of overall experience with at least 3 years of management experience in an IT environment.
  • Previous direct involvement in production work.
  • Demonstrated management of 10-20 personnel performing IT-related tasks.
  • Working knowledge of/familiarity with:

    • Solaris with Trusted Extensions, Linux, Windows, and networking.
    • MySQL, Oracle, data warehousing.
    • Web-based system technologies including HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and AJAX.


  • Ability to work on-site (no hybrid/remote)

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary/hourly range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
