Overview

SSOE is looking for a Project VDC/BIM Specialist. A Project VDC/BIM Specialist with SSOE will develop project execution plans, assist the Project Manager with requests for proposals and specifications and utilize VDC/BIM modeling authoring software, such as: Plant 3D, Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.

Responsibilities

A Typical Day Might Include:

    Prepare and lead the VDC/BIM Project Execution kick-off session.
  • Setup and facilitate 3D model coordination between multiple software's such as Plant3D and Revit.
  • Process laser scan point cloud data for use in design and construction models ensuring it's at the correct coordinate system within all modeling software's.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with discipline leads showing clash and interference issues to be resolved.
  • Perform regular maintenance processes on project models. (Plant 3D, Revit and or Inventor).
  • Provide support to the PM, VDC/BIM Coordinator, discipline BIM champions and discipline modelers throughout project.
  • Assist Department Management with assessing project team skills, development needs and recommendations for VDC/BIM/CAD training.
  • Provide input to the project manager (PM) for project budget and develop the project technology team project work plan (DWP) in association thereto.
  • Develop Project Execution Plans, including Model Authorship and LOD specifications.
  • Assist the PM with requests for proposals and specifications for (3D laser scanning) & other outsourced BIM/VDC services.
  • Create & review development of and deploy project-specific model content.
  • Perform specialized modeling application e.g. 4D simulations, point layout extractions, etc.
  • Lead quality review process(s) for model content and methods within project models.
  • Support the PM with project post-mortem sessions, capture and document improvements to modeling processes and Best-Known Methods (BKM's).
  • Participate in the firm's design technology community of practice (CoP) as part of the core group leadership.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.


Qualifications

Qualifications You'll Need on Day One:

  • Associate Degree with 3D CAD modeling or equivalent degree and 8+ years of BIM or 3D CAD work experience within the process industry in a professional firm setting desired.
  • Advanced capability with Plant3D and Revit VDC/BIM modeling authoring software required. AutoCAD, Inventor, etc is a plus.
  • Capability with VDC applications software, such as: Navisworks Manage, ReCap, Autodesk Application Plugins (i.e. IDEATE BimLink or Model Explorer), etc.
  • Skilled with associated software: ACC DMS (document management system), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), BlueBeam, SharePoint, Revit Server.
  • Communication and facilitation in a team/group setting, including effective meeting planning is required, along with knowledge and understanding of design and construction process.
  • Understanding of various project delivery methods, Lean construction and Concurrent Engineering concepts is desired.
  • Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
