Sr. Specialist - Communications

Position Summary:

The Senior Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating original content for a variety of internal and external communication channels. The Senior Communications Specialist will support messaging to employees and key internal and external stakeholders to achieve company goals. The Senior Communications Specialist is an experienced news writer who can craft articles, press releases and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Builds organizational communications, including speeches, talking points, ghostwriting, media releases/statements. Writes articles and content for organization intranet, The Vault. Creates media alerts and press releases as assigned. Represents the organization at select events as needed. Supports and maintains media communications distribution list and document library. Contributes to preparing executives for external interviews by providing media training and crafting talking points. Manages the delivery of information and corporate communications to key stakeholders. Utilizes a wide variety of channels to deliver content (newsletter articles, press releases, talking points, etc) to communicate business goals. Establishes relationships throughout the organization to help provide stakeholders with the most effective solutions to meet business needs. Collaborates with peers across the company to ensure message and strategy alignment. Stays abreast of changes on communication technologies and engagement trends.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field; or equivalent mix of education and work experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience required
  • Experience in video production including shooting and editing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of communications best practices and principles.
  • Working knowledge of MS Suite programs, PowerPoint, Asana, Canva.
  • Knowledge of intranet CMS software, such as Unily.
  • Proven ability to draft and edit written communications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, with a talent for creative expression and perspectives.
  • Strong ability to work independently and time management.
  • Ability to create high-quality compelling written products for a variety of audiences and levels.
  • Must possess the ability to take initiative and be pro-active in identifying and completing daily and weekly tasks based on short- and long-term priorities and client needs.

  • Our company offers a dynamic hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days of on-site work, in the Sugar Land, TX office.
