What We DoSearch public records and examine titles to determine legal condition of property title, primarily for residential properties. Copy or summarize recorded documents, which affect the condition of title to the property. These roles may be found in production center or branch office environments. Actual workflow is typically determined by geographic practices. In some cases, the Title Examiner role gathers information and creates a commitment of title before passing along to a Title Officer.
Works independently and uses experience to examine title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and establish chain of title.

What You'll Do

  • Perform the title examination and examine the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily residential
  • Abstract and analyze records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records
  • Resolve most issues such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate or contradictory information contained in the title documentation
  • Prepare initial title commitment documentation based on the application of procedural guidelines
  • Prepare and review reports for accuracy
  • May provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years related experience
  • Experience searching and examining Texas land records desired; experience in other states is acceptable
  • Knowledge of legal terms used in title documents
  • Able to read and decipher legal descriptions relating to title orders
  • Strong detail / quality orientation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Customer service orientation
  • Strong knowledge of industry and company operating systems, tools, and applications
  • Standard Microsoft Office skill set
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Salary Range: $20.72 - $34.53 Hourly

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on several factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
