Summary of Job Duties:The Construction/Project Manager will liaise with design consultants, contractors, University employees, and other areas as required. This position coordinates meetings and other activities with user committees, consultants, contractors, planners, and others. This position must be able to read and interpret construction plans and specifications and review plans and specifications for constructability and viability. The Construction/ Project Manager provides surveillance and oversight over major and minor construction projects on campus and handles construction project management administration including contracts, project schedules, payment applications, change orders, warranty, and close-out documentation. This position will also inspect completed buildings and construction projects for compliance and acceptability. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education &/or Experience:

  • The formal education equivalentof a bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture, or a related field;

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience as a Project Manager in construction, engineering, architecture or a related field;

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) may be considered in lieu of a degree.Certified PMP must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience as a Project Manager in construction, engineering, architecture or a related field.

Preferred Education &/or Experience:

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity;

  • At least eight or more years of experience in the construction industry as a project manager or leading a project management team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between various members of construction teams, and end users of campus spaces;

  • Review plans and specifications for accuracy, completeness of data, and compliance with existing

  • codes, University standards, and requirements;

  • Assure accurate and timely construction reviews to minimize change orders;

  • Monitoring of Construction projects, keeping daily written logs, and preparing reports as required;

  • Conduct daily site visits to make sure work in progress meets University's expectations;

  • Meet with the Director of Planning & Constructions and Facilities Management teams to conduct

  • Review of proposed work to be done on campus;

  • Develop meeting agendas, and provides meeting notes and regular updates to clients;

  • Manage all aspects of minor projects, including cost estimating, client meetings, project

  • development, design, and oversight of construction;

  • Assure preparation of requests for proposals, requests for qualifications, invitations for bids, and

  • other solicitation documents;

  • Serve as contract administrator and project manager on minor construction projects that are

  • handled through various construction vendors;

  • Prepares and reviews schedules for new projects as they are confirmed and clients are ready

  • to proceed;

  • Performs all necessary bidding procedures for campus projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of all aspects of construction site safety;

  • Knowledge and familiarity with current sustainability principles;

  • Knowledge of the supervisory practices and procedures;

  • Knowledge of building construction techniques, materials, and costs;

  • Knowledge of construction budget development;

  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of skilled trade workers;

  • Ability to conduct on-site inspections of buildings to determine the quality and progress of ongoing operations;

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and building specifications;

  • Ability to develop construction plans, procedures, and budgets.
