http://psyc.uark.edu Summary of Job Duties:The Department of Psychological Science in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to start in August 2025. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with a competitive startup package. Candidates must have a program of research focused on behavioral approaches to addressing health inequities in marginalized and underserved populations. Candidates must further have a demonstrated commitment to institutional belonging efforts. The person hired for this position will be affiliated with-and play an integral role in the development of-a new Center for Community-Engaged Health Equity Research. We prefer candidates whose research focuses on mental health equities and who use participatory action research or other methods that engage community collaborators. We also prefer candidates with a demonstrated potential to obtain extramural funding and who have obtained a Ph.D. from an APA-accredited health service psychology program (e.g., clinical, counseling, school, or combined program). At minimum, the person hired for this position will have: (1) a Ph.D. in psychology or closely related field (e.g., human development; public health) from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of appointment; (2) an active research agenda in the area of health disparities and/or treatment equities; (3) evidence of scholarly productivity as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals; and (4) an ability to contribute to the department's teaching mission in both graduate training and undergraduate instruction in psychological science, including seminar courses in the person's area(s) of expertise.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

About the Department of Psychological Science:
PSYC houses both a large undergraduate program (over 1,500 students) and two Ph.D. programs (i.e., Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychology). The department has more than 25 full-time faculty that together span a wide range of expertise in psychological science, four full-time administrative staff, over 40 Ph.D. students, and several postdoctoral fellows. The nationally registered historic building that houses PSYC-Memorial Hall-contains four floors of faculty offices, laboratory spaces, classrooms, and the Psychological Clinic, which serves as the primary training site for the Department's fully accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Program. The Department is also home to a major private endowment that generates over $250K/year to support its research mission. This endowment funds graduate research assistants, faculty research, summer pay for grant preparation, and other research-related expenses. Our clinical program has been awarded a Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) program grant for multiple consecutive cycles; our current GPE grant is entitled Meeting the Moment: Preparing a Health Service Psychology Workforce that is Socially Responsive and Resilient. In addition to being affiliated with PSYC, faculty have the opportunity to be part of the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R; https://i3r.uark.edu). This interdisciplinary institute includes construction of a building that is on track to open at the end of 2024, and this building will include the equipment necessary for conducting studies on or related to human neuroimaging (MRI, EEG, fNIRS, TMS), mobile virtual reality, sleep, and metabolic processes.
