Summary of Job Duties:This advanced-level position is responsible for the overall development, direction, and success of the College's external fund-raising and alumni relations program. This includes cultivating and soliciting public and private gifts/awards/grants, conducting capital campaigns, organizing annual fundraising events, maintaining donor and prospective donor files, developing long-range advancement plans, and initiating an alumni association. The Advancement, Communications and Alumni Relations Department is responsible for activities that help build strong support and lasting relationships among internal constituents and external constituents including alumni, community members, donors, lawmakers, the media, students, parents and friends of the college. The overall goal is to further the public's understanding and brand recognition of UAHT as an important institutional leader in providing quality educational opportunities for its diverse learners to thrive in an evolving world. This position will focus on increasing student enrollment through public relations and marketing. Additionally, the position serves as a liaison to the UAHT Foundation, reports directly to the Chancellor, and must work closely with other members of the Chancellor's Cabinet and the campus community.

The Director for Institutional Advancement is responsible for:
* Overseeing fundraising and gift administration, and leading the effort to identify and secure new funding to support the operations of the college, provide professional development for employees and enhance the student experience.
* Strengthening the college's bond with the community, employees, students, and alumni and identifying new priorities, and, new relationships.
* Shaping and upholding the institutional image and promoting UAHT to the public.
* Developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing and public relations program that increases brand awareness, visibility and understanding of the college mission, programs, and services.
* Establishing the inaugural alumni association, and launching capital campaigns to boost supporters of the college.
* Managing the institutional advancement budget.
* Assisting in planning and coordination of campus-wide special events and activities.
* Fostering positive community relationships with businesses, elected officials, industry, agencies, and schools.
* Assisting with college anniversary celebrations, grand openings, groundbreaking ceremonies and other special commemorative events.
* Liaising with the UAHT Foundation Board for fundraising, special events, and asset allocation.
* Supervising staff.

* Ability to reassess long-standing practices and policies, and to initiate new ones that allow the Office of Advancement to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible in a goal-oriented environment.
* Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
* Knowledge and understanding of budget practices with the ability to analyze information for reports, monitor accounts, and organize data into effective and meaningful oral and written presentations.
* Works independently and with a team, and is accountable for the quality of program development.
* Works in a professional and collegial manner with faculty, staff, students, donors, and the community in the best interest of the college and the people it serves.
* Maintains sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students, faculty and staff.
* Understands and accepts duties in a manner consistent with standards, mission and goals UAHT.
* Displays an entrepreneurial mindset.
* Ability to persuade with integrity and comfortable with cold-calling prospective donors Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred. Applicants with specialized experience in the areas below may substitute experience for degree requirements.

* Documented experience in development and private fundraising operations strongly preferred.

* Experience in grant writing and external funding procurement strongly preferred.

* Demonstrated experience with special event planning preferred.

* Experience working with private foundations strongly preferred; experience with higher education foundations preferred.

* Experience with marketing and public relations activities preferred.

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with external groups, as well as in a collaborative, diverse academic community.

* A participatory leadership style with a commitment to collaborative decision-making.

* Experience with strategic planning, budget management, and resource allocation.

* Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of the use of databases, technology and industry specific software tools (e.g., CRM)

* Understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission.

* Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

* A commitment to civic engagement and community involvement.
