Summary of Job Duties:A full-time, 12-month program associate position with paid vacation and fringe benefits. The individual filling this position will be joining an established program focusing on the development of hybrid rice and inbred cultivars for Arkansas and Mid-South. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: planting of breeding nurseries, yield trials, and hybrid seed production plots/bays; management of plots including spraying, irrigating, weeding, harvesting, etc.; collection and analysis of data; off-station planting and harvest; and other breeding related duties. The employee must be able to perform physical work such as lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, maintaining irrigation and machinery when needed, operating machinery and conducting daily field activities. Seasonal travel to off-station test sites and winter nursery will be required. Continuation of this position is contingent upon availability of grant funds. Salary is commensurate with training and experience. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have a BS degree plus three years of related experience or a MS degree in a related field in plant science or closely related area, which includes coursework in genetics, agronomy, soil science and chemistry. Previous experience in rice production, yield trials, field management, and seed production are required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including word, power point and excel. Experience operating and maintaining of field equipment used in rice production.
