Summary of Job Duties:The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the verification and accuracy of data input into student admission and academic records for domestic graduate students and for half of all graduate programs across campus. The Admissions Counselor will report to the Director of Graduate Admissions. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for the verification and accuracy of data input into student admission and academic records for domestic graduate students for half of all graduate programs across campus. The Admissions Counselor will also be responsible for assisting students in navigating the application portal and for assisting in orienting newly admitted students. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree; plus two (2) years of experience in admissions and/or recruitment in higher education.

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Masters degree

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit students primarily through virtual recruitment and site-specific campaigns;
  • Receive the application information for graduate students and verify all information;
  • Log, scan and link student admission and academic records into the appropriate electronic format;
  • Ensure proper maintenance of students' electronic records;
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the student during the admissions process, and continues to support the students as needed for the duration on campus;
  • Guide the student through use of the new Slate application portal;
  • Help orient newly admitted students;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of computers and software application programs;
  • Knowledge of the graduate admissions process is a must;
  • Knowledge of database management is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Banner, Image Now/Web Now is preferred;
  • Must have superior interpersonal communication, problem-solving skills and work well with people.
