www.ualr.edu/children Summary of Job Duties:The Family Resource Assistant will play a crucial role in connecting families with community resources, assisting them in accessing essential services, and providing emotional support during challenging times. Your dedication to helping families thrive and your strong communication skills will contribute to the overall well-being of the families we serve. The Assistant will work under the supervision of the Media and Outreach Coordinator and work closely with FACE & membership team members, Data Coordinator, & Programs Coordinators. Candidates must be available Monday-Thursday and select Saturdays between 9am and 1pm. Final schedule open to discussion based on programs and applicant availability. Must be able to provide the proof of Work Study Award. Spanish is highly preferred. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Must be 18-years old or older with a high school diploma

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Some college with a focus in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field;
  • Customer service or family support service experience, & Spanish.

Job Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Resource Coordination: Collaborate with families to assess their needs and connect them with appropriate community resources, including social services, educational programs, healthcare services, financial assistance, and more.
  • Information Sharing: Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for families seeking information about available resources and services. Provide accurate and up-to-date information to families to help them make informed decisions.
  • Supportive Counseling: Offer empathetic and nonjudgmental emotional support to families facing various challenges, such as parenting difficulties, financial stress, and life transitions.
  • Referral Management: Maintain a comprehensive database of local resources, agencies, and organizations to facilitate efficient referrals. Follow up with families to ensure they have successfully accessed the referred services.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with families, services provided, and outcomes achieved. Prepare reports as necessary to track program effectiveness and impact.
  • Community Outreach: Collaborate with local community partners, schools, clinics, and other relevant organizations to stay informed about available resources and establish strong referral networks.
  • Workshops and Events: Assist in organizing and facilitating CI-led workshops and events focused on family well-being, parenting, and other relevant topics.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds, ensuring that services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each family.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative duties, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, managing the resource database, and maintaining an organized workspace.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen actively and communicate effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to supporting families in challenging situations.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and social service agencies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using computer applications and databases for record-keeping and communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations.
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Spanish is extremely helpful
  • Evening availability and some weekend availability as needed
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
