Summary of Job Duties:We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as a Senior Classroom Support Tech. This position will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of academic teaching spaces at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), specifically in the Northwest Arkansas Region.

As a Senior Classroom Support Tech, you will play a crucial role in supporting and troubleshooting all audiovisual (AV) equipment, computers, and software in these teaching spaces. You will work closely with the Audiovisual group to ensure optimal performance and resolve any issues that may arise. Additionally, you will provide second and third-level presentation hardware to the appropriate teams and vendors. You will be required to respond to situations where standard procedures have failed in isolating or fixing problems related to equipment, software installations, or configuration changes. This requires advanced troubleshooting skills and knowledge to identify and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of IT job-specific experience or other relevant job experience
  • Experience in customer service with a track record of success
  • Must participate in a 24/7 365-day-a-year on-call group that rotates every week of the year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field of study.
  • Eight (8) years of IT/VA experience, with five (5) years of experience in Video Conferencing equipment and protocols (SIP, H323, WebRTC).
  • Five (5) years experience in AV and IT project management.
  • Previous IT Team Lead supervisory experience desired.

    Preferred Licenses, certificates, or registration:

    • Cisco CCIE, CTS-I, CTS-D, CTS, CTI

    Special Knowledge, skills,& abilities:

    • Project Management skills
    • Strong knowledge of audiovisual equipment, computers, and software.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve technical issues.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

    Additional Information:

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Academic Classroom Support: Provide faculty support and assistance of room control panels, cameras, audio, screens, projectors, computers, as well as other technology software and equipment within the classrooms and off-site locations utilizing remote software or on-site visits. Coordinate the upkeep of classroom technology, computers, maintaining consistency in the classrooms. Provide faculty support and assistance of teaching software and associated tools within the classrooms and off-site locations utilizing remote software or on-site visits. Coordinates all changes, installations, or upgrades of Northwest Academic equipment with audiovisual group in Little Rock.
    • Telemedicine Clinical Support: Provide support for telemedicine technology in the Northwest Region when needed and coordinate with IDHI team in Little Rock on any issues with hardware and/or coordinate vendor support with IDHI when needed for any NW Region site experiencing issues with equipment. Assist IDHI team in the maintenance and upkeep of technology in the Northwest Region.
    • Special Event Support: Coordinate presentation support for high-profile events with relevant supporting team's and NW-IT. Meet with campus stakeholders and visiting presenters prior to events, when applicable. Attend planning meetings and rehearsals as needed.
    • May perform other duties as assigned.
