Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials, the candidate must demonstrate

• A Ph.D. degree in Political Science or International Relations with a specialization in international security or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of appointment

• A demonstrated ability to teach an undergraduate Introduction to International Relations course

• An ability to teach some combination of the following courses at the undergraduate or graduate level: International Conflict and National Security Policy, Theories of International Relations, and American Foreign Policy

• Record of successful research and publication (e.g., journal articles published in reputable outlets)

• A well-defined research agenda that focuses on international security

• Evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching evaluations, sample syllabus, teaching portfolio)

Preferred Qualifications:

• A strong and active research agenda that is well-grounded in theory and backed by advanced analytical, methodological, and empirical skills

• A demonstrated potential for publishing in top-tier outlets

• A demonstrated commitment to graduate and undergraduate education and a willingness to contribute to our department's existing teaching strengths

• A demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a student population from different backgrounds

• Potential to secure external grant funding

• A demonstrated commitment to active scholarly service
