Department:English, Humanities, and Foreign LanguageDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Department of English, Humanities, and Foreign Languages invites applications for a 9-month Assistant Professor of Theatre to start in August 2023.Duties include: *breaking down a script, analyzing and exploring the content, and conducting relevant research *holding auditions for productions, selecting and hiring designers, musicians, etc. *managing time and organizing people and space *organizing rehearsal *directing two plays per semester *programming and budgeting *teaching undergraduate theatre courses in the areas of directing, acting, lighting, costume design, make-up, and stage design Qualifications: *Terminal degree in Theatre or related field from a nationally recognized and accredited institution conferred by the start of employment *Experience in providing effective instruction and advising to a diverse population of undergraduate students *Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in theatre education and practice. Preferred Qualifications: *Ability to teach additional emphasis in the performance areas of directing, acting, lighting, costume design, make-up, and stage design *Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and collegiality *Ability to direct two plays per semester *At least three years experience in managing, leading and collaborating to produce theatre productions *At least three years of teaching college-level theatre courses and/or working with college students in theatre productions *Successfully recruiting students, based upon agreed-upon goals, for theatre productions *Leading the planning, development, and implementation of a reimagined theatre program This position is fully funded through Title III "Strengthening Black Colleges and Universities."
