Summary of Job Duties:Summary Of Job Duties
Continually seeks, in consultation with departmental faculty and Program Director, new and innovative measures to improve or enhance instructional capabilities and procedures. Assists with Department-level advising. Monitors student activities including performance, evaluations, and preceptorships. Facilitates accreditation from national organizations. Provides up-to-date knowledge and materials as well as collects data for students to employ to become registered practitioners. Assists the Director in collaborations and partnerships with community and educational sectors such as hospitals, clinics, physician offices, registries, and other healthcare delivery facilities. Contributes to decision-making on policies and problem-solving. Participates in communication between all constituents/affiliates, both internal and external. Assists the Program Director in support for the Department's Mission and Goals. Serves as a member of any college teams and committees as required. Ensures the coordination of curriculum delivery to include planning/assessment for meeting the needs of the HIT students as deemed by the CAHIIM and AHIMA goals.

As the Clinical Coordinator for the Health Information Technology (HIT) program, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application in healthcare settings. You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing clinical placements for all HIT students, ensuring they gain hands-on experience and exposure to real-world health information management practices. Collaborate with healthcare facilities to establish and maintain clinical sites for student placements. Coordinate schedules and logistics for student clinical rotations, ensuring compliance with program and accreditation requirements. Provide support and guidance to students during their clinical experiences, addressing any issues or concerns that arise. Work closely with faculty to align clinical experiences with curriculum objectives and learning outcomes. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of clinical placements, making recommendations for improvements as needed. Maintain accurate records of student placements, evaluations, and any relevant documentation. Serve as a liaison between the HIT program and clinical site supervisors to ensure a positive and productive learning environment for students. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in health information technology and management to continuously enhance the clinical training component of the program.

Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of the teaching field, a demonstrated commitment to student success with a student-centered approach to education, a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and effectiveness, an understanding and appreciation of an applied approach to the study of the discipline, and a willingness to follow the approved departmental curriculum established by the department chair, and dean. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to student development in and outside of the classroom. Candidates must also have ability to communicate and work effectively with students, college faculty and staff, and the community. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field. Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and organizations. Experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, preferably within health information management. Commitment to supporting student success and fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree. Community college teaching experience. Experience with online course development and instruction (Blackboard, Moodle, Angel, etc).
