Job Summary:

Kearfott Motion Systems Division is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our team in Black Mountain, North Carolina. The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality standards. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to optimize production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Improvement:
    • Analyze and evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, and safety.
    • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Optimize the use of resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
  • Facility Layout Design:
    • Design and reconfigure plant layouts to improve workflow, reduce production bottlenecks, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
    • Coordinate with facility management to implement layout changes and ensure minimal disruption to production.
  • Time and Motion Studies:
    • Conduct time studies and work measurements to establish standard work times and optimize labor utilization.
    • Develop and maintain accurate work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and manage process improvement projects from concept through implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and deliver measurable results.
  • Capacity Planning and Production Scheduling:
    • Analyze production capacities and develop plans to ensure that resources are aligned with production demands.
    • Work with production teams to develop and optimize production schedules.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Collaborate with quality teams to identify root causes of production issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and Kearfott's internal quality policies.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify trends, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations for process improvements.
    • Present findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the organization, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence.
    • Provide training and support to employees on Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role, preferably within a precision manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
    • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools for layout design and process modeling.
    • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, and testing, in a high-precision environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CAD software (such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks), ERP systems and familiarity with Process Flow simulation software.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.
  • Must be a US Citizen or be a US Permanent Residence Card Holder.

Work Environment:

  • Work is typically performed in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Regular exposure to a manufacturing setting, including walking, standing, and moving around production areas.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support other Kearfott locations or suppliers.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and other industrial hazards.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift materials up to 25 pounds as needed during plant visits.
